When first immersed in the world of Glen Scotia 10 Year Old Unpeated, the senses are met with flavours of vanilla, caramel toffee and a hint of citrus. However, a strange note lurks beneath the surface, a musty presence that slightly dulls the fragrance experience.

On the palate, Glen Scotia reveals an unexpected range of flavours, from a wet towel and old, soft McDonald's fries to a subtle maritime saltiness. However, despite the variety of flavours, the Scotch lacks the fruitiness one would expect from a whisky of this type. Instead, an unpleasant hint of mustiness lingers in the mouth.

The finish is disappointing. Barely existent, it leaves only a slight bitterness and a rough texture on the tongue, which reinforces the impression of an unfinished whisky.

The Glen Scotia 10 Year Old Unpeated is a single malt Scotch whisky that surprises with its original and unusual notes, but ultimately cannot fulfil its promises. The small presence of the cask and the almost non-existent finish make it an atypical representative of its kind, which is only partially convincing. Instead, we would go for the Double Cask (a few euros more expensive).

Rating: 67/100 - Good (Marcel: 64 | Sascha: 70)
